What is the Report Text ?
1.
Definition of Report Text :
Report text is a text which present information about something, as it is. It is as a result of systematic observation and analyses. Its social function is to present about something.

Generic structure of Report Text
:
A report text consist of the following structure :

General Clasification : Stating classification
of general aspect of thing : animal, public place, plant,etc which will be discussed in general.
§
Description : Describing the thing which will be discussed in detail : part saban part, customs or deed for living creature and usage for materials.

Language Feature of Report Text :
§
Use of general nouns
§
Use of relating verbs to describe features
§
Some use of action verbs when describing behaviour
§
Use of timeless present tense to indicate usualness
§
Use of technical term.

Report Text :
The Pelican Report
General Classification:
The white pelican is one of the most successful fish-eating birds.
Description:
The success is largely due to its command hunting behaviour. A group, perhaps two dozen birds, will gather in a curved arc some distance offshore. The birds then begin to move forward towards the shore, beating the water furiously with their wings, driving the fish before them.
When the water is shallow enough for the birds to reach the fish, the formation breaks up as each bird dips its bill into the water to scoop up its meal. As the bird lifts its head, the water drains from its bill leaving the fish which are then swallowed. Pelicans are among the oldest group of birds, Fossils of this genus have been found dating back 40 million years.
The other example :
Football Play
Football is a game played by two teams of eleven. They try to score by kicking or heading the ball into the other team’s goal. Ten of the players can titinada use their hands. The goal keeper can handle the ball to stop it going into the goal.
Games similar to football have been played for many centuries. The rules of the games were written down in 1863. In England, the FA ( Football Association ) cup was first played for in 1872. In the same year, England played Scotland in the first game.
Today the most important International Competition is the World Cup which takes place in every four years. Brazil and Italy have each won the world cup three times.
